This dive was called the reef and wreck dive. It was a shore excursion arranged by Carnival. I was snorkeling on this trip. It was also the first time using my new underwater camera. The trip consisted to two dives, Cheeseburger Reef and the Cali.
The first dive was on Cheeseburger reef. This reef gets it's name due to the proximity to Burger King. I was amazed at the viz here. We apeared to be about 1 mile offshore, and must have had nearly 200' of viz. The reef was very nice with ledges and swim throughs. I saw the usual reef fish as well as some larger tarpon.
The second dive was a wreck called the Cali. Legend tells of the Cali taking in a lot of water and was brought closer to shore, unfortunately it was carrying large amounts of rice, which of course expanded with all the water. The Cali virtually exploded from the rice expansion. No one can confirm this story, heard being told time and time again.
This dive was closer to shore and the viz was not quite as good, but still awsome. Unfortunately the batteries on my camera were dead and I did not get any photos. Saw a few flounder and smaller fish.
